The 2017 Seven Sundays in Gage Park concert series continues with the stellar sounds of the Spleit Strings Orchestra .

6:00PM: Food Trucks Open
Come buy some delicious food from local food trucks serving dinner and dessert. Confirmed food vendors include Kool Jim’s Ice Cream Truck, MeatVentures, Relay Coffee, Rudy's Paletas, and Urban Express.

7:00PM: The Spleit Strings Orchestra
That should probably be plural: Come see four orchestras perform — Beginner Orchestra, Advanced Orchestra, The Mass Spleit String Orchestra, and The Hamilton East Chamber Ensemble — over the course of the evening. While you're there, visit the "Try An Instrument" tent at the side of the bandshell stage.

Helmed by instructor Ilona Spleit, The Spleit Strings Studio offers students of all ages from the Hamilton area an opportunity to learn to play a stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass) in a class as well as orchestra setting; the instrument is provided for free. Each week, students have a class lesson in small groups and then join together on Saturdays at at Ryerson United Church (842 Main St. E., Hamilton) to rehearse as an orchestra. Throughout the year, students also perform and compete at a number of venues, including an annual Christmas and Spring Concert, as well as a Mass Strings Concert (most recently held at the Mohawk College Auditorium as part of Winterfest). Over the years, Ilona Spleit’s students have regularly competed in the Hamilton, Burlington and Toronto Kiwanis Music Festivals winning many accolades, awards, trophies, and scholarships. The most elite ensemble from this studio, the Hamilton East Chamber Ensemble, has been nominated six times for Provincials by the Greater Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival, and won each time. Come enjoy an evening of musical excellence!
